I always wondered what it would be like to be stuck on a deserted island, my family and I. Well..... my idea in a manner of speaking is my current reality. Lockdown.
Our President has extended it for another 2 weeks, which means that we on this 'island' until the end of April.
So come the end of April and we all start going back to the way life was... Umm, nope not going to happen. Everything will return to normal but in stages and not all at the same time. We would have to gradually integrate back to "normal" society.
Interesting times we living in...
Looking back at the last 3 weeks, I've had a blast with my boys. As a family we closer and stronger and we able to understand each other a little better. I'm very appreciative to be able to spend these days with them. Yes, there have been days where I need some space ( today is that day, I'm chilling in the sun in my yard just me, myself and I). But we all got through the challenging days. Our next challenge... not being able to perform Taraweeh salaah at the mosque this year.
Yes, Ramadan starts in a few days and I am so looking forward to fasting in a way the entire world has been preparing for it. The world has realized the beauty of Sadaqah (giving to those in need). We have strangers dropping off food parcels at homes for those that are in need of it. Society has started to take care of itself (neighbours helping neighbours). Amazing....
My dua (pray) for today is that we continue these amazing gestures of helping our brothers and sisters even after COVID-19.
Aslm
Ayesha.
