My World ... Our World

As-salaam

After writing my first blog, I had hoped I would never have to feel this amount of anger and disappointment at society. How is it that we can live in a society that allows this to happen to our children.

In 2018 Our Police Commissioner reported that South Africa had 124 526 total rape cases reported in the last 3 financial years, 41% of those rapes are … AGAINST CHILDREN.  https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/rape-statistics-41-children/.

Yes, 41% of the rapes committed in South Africa are against children, in the same 3 years 2600 children are murdered (let that sink in for a while.)

THESE ARE ONLY KIDS. THEY ARE OUR FUTURE LEADERS.

I am unable to write how angry I am about these numbers, what saddens me even more is this article I read on IOL.

I have the following to say about this article:

  • All they want is LOVE and yet you hurt them.
  • All they need is CARE and yet you beat them.
  • All they crave for is your attention and yet you abandon, rape and kill them.

Has society changed so much that our children are not able to:

  • Play outside until 10pm.
  • Or could go to the neighbour to play
  • Walk to the shop

The reality is yes, the world I grew up in and the one that my parents grew up in does not exist. It is completely gone without a trace. Today we as parents live in fear that our children will be kidnapped, raped or murdered on the way to school or these things will happen at school.

Does this feeling ever go away? Do we always have to live in fear for the safety our children?

Unfortunately yes, until SOCIETY changes it’s ways.

  • Men and Women need to stand together for a better future for our Children.
  • Men and Women need to stand together for a better future for our Men and Women
  • Men and Women need to stand together for a better world.
But how do we change it?

From within.

We as parents need to teach our sons and daughters about respect and love for themselves and for human life. Teach our children to be the best part of themselves. We need to be the role models for our children.

Our children learn everything from us, it’s TIME to teach them …
